Program perspective

A musical arch.

The lively, rhythmically animated character of Warlock's Capriol Suite opens a journey through contrasting sound worlds. Finzi's lyrical concerto brings the clarinet to the foreground. After the interval, Sibelius's Andante Festivo offers a moment of profound repose, before Takemitsu's film music gently reintroduces movement and Akutagawa's Triptyque brings the evening to an energetic close.

British, Nordic and Japanese voices meet in a program that connects different musical traditions through the shared expressive possibilities of a string orchestra.
